As I look around today and view people, culture and media, I have noticed a disturbing trend. This trend focuses on spirituality, denying the power of God and trying to conform the will of God to fit our selfish desires. The faith of the Lord Jesus Christ is Good News. When this good news has been preached it attracts multitudes with various motives. Sadly, too many in the church have not provided the appropriate instruction of who and what the Lord is and what are his requirements. We have watered down the faith and present it as a great social program to heal the various maladies of humanity. Some have even used it as a means of getting rich to their own detriment. But the good news is none of these things for it is the power of God present in this earth to heal, deliver, open the eyes of the blind, set people free (mentally, spiritually, and physically), and to proclaim the good news of the coming of our Father to establish his Kingdom on the earth.
With this establishment, those who believe in this new life need to be instructed into what they are to become. The apostle Paul writes that we are new creatures. Old things have passed away and behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV). With this new life there should be a change that has occurred within your spirit that will affect your mind and your body. This change can only be found by confessing with your mouth that Jesus is now the Lord of your life and believing in your heart that God the Father has raised him from the dead. This confession should now be followed with behavior and action. The bible teaches us how we are behave towards others in our family, work, government, relationships and in society. But sadly, too many of our leaders have chosen not to instruct the body of Christ in the nuts and bolts of the faith.
These nuts and bolts of the faith have to deal with the daily grind of living the God kind of life in a corrupt and unrepentant world. It requires Christians to set daily times of prayer and reading of the Word. These prayers session made to God in Jesus’s mighty name break the power of the evil one in our lives and within our community. They allow for the kingdom of Heaven to loose its messengers to provide us with protection, healing, and answered prayer. This new life requires that Christians read and hear the word of God on a daily basis. For Jesus stated in the bible, men do not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4 NKJV). So we live by his Word. For his word is a living organism that was set in place to instruct, guide and provide sustenance and nourishment for us.
These key tenants have never changed. For we can see this requirement both in the new and old testament of the bible. When the men and women of God kept his commandments and adhered to his decrees they were blessed both in the city and in the field (Deuteronomy 28). They had his protection and love within the family and over the community. When they loved the Lord and obeyed his word they were able to successfully defeat any attack from their enemies. When they treated others with love, respect, and holiness God blessed them. But when they chose to follow their own desires in contradiction to the Word of the Lord they were susceptible to any attack forged by the enemy. I say all of this to present that God doesn’t change. His character is still the same. His requirements are the same. For in the days of antiquity he required animal sacrifices to cover the lawless deeds of people. He required that they be holy, just and true. For Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. When we proclaim the blood of Jesus and ask for forgiveness of our sins, we are covered and made clean and right in God’s sight. But it is now our duty to move forward and live the God kind of life which first requires that we love the lord our God with all of our hearts, minds and souls. And that we love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40 NKJV). If we are to do this we need to yield to the instruction for the people of God found in the Books of Moses, Psalms, Prophets, Gospels and the Epistles. It’s not hard. The only requirement is do you “want” to yield to his instruction. The benefits of following his instruction outweigh the cost of eternal separation. But you should always weigh the cost. I have been serving him for over 25 years and he always comes through.
Now before, I close I prayer this priestly prayer over you and your life:
‘Yahweh bless you, and keep you.
Yahweh make his face to shine on you,
and be gracious to you.
Yahweh lift up his face toward you,
and give you peace.’
