Sadly, too many in the church do not believe in signs or wonders. They feel that all signs ceased as soon as the last of the apostles rested to be with the Lord. Believing that there was something extraordinary about these men. It is true, that the original twelve were set apart by the Lord to serve as ambassadors to Israel and the world. Sadly, Judas Iscariot (one of the twelve) was seduced by the evil one and he and his ministry died a sad death. But the remaining eleven were instructed to make disciples and teach them the very words of Jesus. For Matthew writes in his gospel “Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20 WEB).
Signs have not ceased in the church if you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and have received baptism in the Holy Spirit. For he still is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8 WEB). For with baptism comes new life. With this new life, comes power in the Holy Spirit who gives us power and authority to overcome all the power of the evil one (Luke 10:19 WEB). The reason that signs and wonders are seemingly nonexistent is that, faith and belief for the impossible is not being preached. The church has become very secularly educated, erudite and sophisticated while choosing to be ignorant of God’s word. It’s easier to speak about popular culture, financial blessings and growth of a church but not on what God can do for and through you to help others. Things like healing, deliverance from demonic oppression, intercessory prayer, protection from violent people, mental health, and stability within the home and in life have gone the way of the Dodo in the church. We have outsourced our responsibilities as spiritual leaders to specialist within the world.
As a result, the evil one is running rampant in this world while the church is spiritually crippled. I hear scripture stating, “physician heal thyself”. The church needs to seek God’s face and turn from her wicked ways and ask for healing from the Lord. When the church regains her health, she can then spread healing to the world. But first we all must rededicate our lives to the Lord. We must refocus and recalibrate. For if you do not see signs and wonders occurring in your life, something is missing. For Jesus said that these signs shall follow them that believe. So if signs aren’t following you, you inevitably must not be believing. For in my life, signs and wonders occur on a regular basis. I see the Lord work supernaturally and naturally for the good of those who love him. But I have chosen to live a consecrated life to Lord. I am by no means perfect (grown to full maturation) but I strive for the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:12). I press forward every day, studying the word, praying for others, asking for forgiveness of my sins, and living a life that is set apart to the Lord. When I commit a mistake, I ask for the Lord’s forgiveness and move forward. As you implement these strategies, meditate (mutter the word) on the word, and continue in your calling (service to the Lord) you can guarantee that signs will follow you, if you believe.
Well, until we meet again. I pray that Yahweh bless you, and keep you.
Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. Yahweh lift up his face toward you,
and give you peace’ (Numbers 6:24-26 WEB).
